Krymská street - life and art
Krymská street is a cross between Montmartre in Paris and Kreuzberg in Berlin. It is a place where artists and café intellectuals flock. All of this, with its mix of industrial, modernist and art deco architecture, makes for one of Prague's most interesting districts.
But it's not just the bars, cafes and pubs that make Krymská a lively space. The street is also home to art studios, galleries and bookstores. Poetry evenings or concerts are regularly held in the underground halls. Krymská has thus become a haven mainly for people who want to participate in improving and revitalising the public space and creating a creative atmosphere here.
In addition to the aforementioned offerings, yoga studios, an art cinema, special interest groups and a children's book publishing house have also been established here in recent years. Whether you're looking for a café, a vegan restaurant or a vintage shop, you've come to the right place.
Krymská Street is also home to the important Korso Krymská event, which always brings the small Vršovice street to the outdoor life of a major boulevard at the end of May. Car-free and restricted, visitors can enjoy plenty of live music and performances, food and drink. There are also after parties at local businesses in the evening.
Nature, parks
The location offers walks in the most beautiful Prague parks such as Heroldovy Sady or Grébovka Park.
Grébovka, inspired by the Italian Renaissance, has a historic fountain, a water cascade, a pond, pavilions, sculptures and a charming artificial cave.
In addition to unique views of Prague, it also offers sitting in the charming wine bar Altán Grébovka in the middle of extensive vineyards or in the garden cafe Pavilon Grébovka with a unique replica of the original historic bowling lane from the 1870s.
The surroundings of the "Tržíček" project
In cooperation with the Municipality of Prague 10, the architectural studio of p. arch. Jirkal's architectural studio and on the basis of several years of cooperation with the local community, we are preparing therevitalisation of the public space between Krymská and Kodaňská Streets, for which the name "Tržíček" has been adopted.
The key principle of the proposal is the permeability and accessibility of the place, which is the main prerequisite for the public space to be used naturally. It should be suitable forrest stops but at the same time respect the shortest walking routes to nearby destinations. It also seeks to mitigate existing height differences and barriers, particularlywith regard to people with reduced mobility. An important consideration is the safety and clarity of local pedestrian routes and the calming of vehicular traffic around the perimeter of the square.
The proposed area will be structured to accommodate a variety of activities, farmers' markets, community celebrations and events, or children's activities and play. This includes the use of catering services from local cafes and restaurants around the square.
We plan to fully replace the parking capacity of today's "Market Place" with parking spaces in the underground garageof the adjacent building we are developing. The entrance to the garage will be part of the new development.
Our visualization below show the plan for the future plaza.
